Since I stumbled upon malaysiakini about a year ago while searching for "another point of view" regarding issues concerning Malaysia, your journal (if I may call it one) has never ceased to amaze me.

Really, I surf your website now more to amuse myself, reading articles and viewpoints that seemed to be chosen and well filtered to suit your editorial policy, which is to run down the Malaysian government.

As an outsider I may not be totally aware of the reality of the Malaysian political mechanism and how it works. But I do read articles concerning Malaysia from whatever sources I can lay my hands on. For example, Asiaweek , a newsmagazine that has often published articles that irk some governments, has nevertheless shown balance and objectivity in its reporting, even on Malaysia.

Admittedly, the present government of Malaysia may not be perfect. But its imperfections are not what malaysiakini tried to make them out to be, as compared with the actual social, economic and political situation.

Malaysia has risen from a not so prominent to a recognised voice in the political, economic and social arena for the past 20 years or so. It may not be a utopia state but it has definitely come a long way.

Maybe if malaysiakini were to be balanced and objective (albeit critical) in the articles and contributions it publishes, even pro-government surfers may be enticed to at least read these articles or postings and may even reflect upon what has been said in them.
