I am constantly amazed at the simplistic minds of our Malaysian leaders who are supposed to be dealing with world and national affairs. We often hear them condemning the "west" usually in one general sweeping statement.

What is their definition of the "west" or "western culture"? Are Europeans, with all their diverse cultures, grouped in the same category as Americans, who themselves vary from north to south and east to west?

On the opposite end, one supposes there will be Asians or Easterners. Are Japanese like Malays in thought, culture and religion? Are Japanese and Koreans similar in morals as compared with Malaysians or Indians? I think you would find that there is a great difference in the way Japanese or Koreans think as compared with Malaysians.

This generalisation has to stop. It is embarrassing and reveals the simplistic mind behind it. Not all westerners are bad and not all Asians are kind, quiet and polite.
