I refer to the letter by Shanon Shah Mohd Sidik, Death penalty will not save our little ones , and I have to disagree with him. Why say 'no to the death penalty' for crimes that involve rape and murder, or in the tragic case of Nurin Jazlin Jazimin who died in the hands of some pedophiles cum murderers.

Crimes against women and children are becoming rampant in Malaysia and I feel the death penalty should stay. Enough is enough. Criminals who committed both sexual crimes and murder against an individual should be given the death penalty.

Henceforth the old adage, let the punishment fit the crime. These monsters do not deserve to be among us in society. Moreover, releasing them back into society after displaying good behaviour in prison is an ineffective method as they are likely to repeat their evil acts onto any innocent person.

Regardless whether anyone will agree or disagree, the death penalty should not only remain in the justice system but also the society and the authorities need to work together in combating crimes against women and children. Furthermore, a sex offenders registry should be in put in place and make it available to the public and law enforcement agencies, locally and globally.
