The crime involving arms in Malaysia is really alarming. There are so many reported cases of armed robberies and shootings, such as:

1) the Mamak gang that posed as policemen and robbed two motorists at the Melaka stretch of the North-South Highway;

2) the assailant who drove by a KTV pub in Segamat, Negeri Sembilan, and shot a patron there six times; and

3) the robbers, armed with sub-machine guns, who robbed a jewellery store at Sunway Pyramid, Selangor.

These are signs that guns are easily available in Malaysia. What are the relevant authorities like the police and customs doing about it? What is the policy of gun ownership in Malaysia? How easy is it to obtain a gun in Malaysia? Why is it so difficult to stop the illegal smuggling of arms from overseas? I hope the relevant parties can shed some light on this issue.
