I have visited your site a couple of times and all that you have to offer, essentially, are political news and letters. What is malaysiakini about? The reporting is slanted and in that sense it's no better than the mainstream media (on the other side of it that is!). The quality of writing is also so-so.

Malaysia has nothing to offer in terms of balanced views on politics and your site is no exception. Honestly, do you really think the "awards" given out to you really mean anything?

Does malaysiakini have its own agenda? There really is nothing outstanding about your site. But that is your right to do as you please - it is a democracy. After all, if our society was as bad as what some activists and politicians (local and foreign - like the ones who gave out the awards) tend to make out, then malaysiakini will not exist and would have been shut down a long time ago.

There are ways of changing public views on the wrongs and mistakes of the government. Just taking a similar stand on the opposite side of the fence is not the solution. Correct me if I am wrong, for that is what it appears you are doing.

Do something different, something that will really matter, something for Malaysia. I lack the ability and resources to do that something. You have begun something that may just be the means of contributing lasting view points which will help mould public view that is both informed and balanced.

Just standing up and shouting like what most of the opposition and others are doing will produce nothing except show how pathetic you/they are. Thinking is what Malaysians need to do. That is what most of us do not do. Simply criticising and condemning others is an exercise in futility because nothing comes out of it. Think about it.
