A mainstream newspaper quoted Ibrahim Ali as saying, "As a Malay, I did not allow Umno Youth to represent me. I want Suqiu to drop their demands once for all" and "I ask the government not to even discuss the other points in it until Suqiu does that."

This purported champion of Malay unity (which is what I gather from his remarks and actions at the MAF gathering) is not even a representative of the people, having been tossed out at the last general elections. To implicitly claim the moral high ground by blaming others for Malay disunity is surely a favourite political textbook for an opportunist. And he has the audacity to demand the government to do this and that.

If the government should give in to his requests or whatever you call it, we might as well do away with our elected representatives. After all, we already have a champion in Ibrahim Ali, don't we?
