I am one of the parents whose child is studying at SRJK (C) Damansara. I wish to speak as a parent.
Since I reside in Section 17, naturally, I registered my kids with this school. My oldest girl is now in Year One in the temporary school in Bandar Utama, Puay Chai (II). She attended a three-week orientation in the old school, just before the term reopened this year. My wife and I were hoping that the old school will be maintained and that our daughter (and we) need not go through the hassle of relocation though rumours of such an eventuality everywhere.
What upset us most was the actual notice of the relocation never came - it was the only the night before school reopens, at 10pm, that a teacher called up to tell us to go to the "new" school in Bandar Utama. My neighbour's daughter in Year Two got a call from her teacher two to three days earlier.
As can be imagined, we were very frustrated with the unprofessional manner this was handled, but what can we do?
Now that my girl is settling well in Puay Chai (II), I'm starting to hear my wife's common complaint of traffic problems and noise pollution in BU. But weren't these two the main reasons for the students to be taken out of the old site in the first place?
The latest news - the new Damansara school will be ready very soon (eight months?) in Tropicana - means that my kid will need to readjust and settle down again, along with the poor parents.
Am I correct to assume that problems to do with "traffic, noise and dangerous environment" won't be in the new school? Yet I hear that the new school will be built near high voltage cables and near a very unhealthy environment a rubbish dump.
By the way, does anyone care to explain what is going to happen to the old school? If the site is not safe for school, what else can it be safe for? Hello, who and where is the headmaster? I need to talk to you, badly!
