Following A Sad Malaysian's letter, [#1] No English, please... we're Malaysians [/#] (Feb 10), and would like to inform those in Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka, the body entrusted to develop the national language, that they are a failure. Even in universities, where the medium of instruction is Bahasa Malaysia, now prefer to use Anglicised Malay.

Take, for example, the word sarjana muda . One university advertises a bacelor programme! How do you pronounce the word anyway?

They don't want to use perdagangan but prefer komersil .

They look down on good old rancangan and prefer program .

Every Malay newspaper or magazine today can be classified as an English periodical with bad spelling.

Come on DBP, dissolve and save public funds.
