LETTER | I refer to the report "Groups to protest against Trump's M'sia visit" by Malaysiakini.

US President Donald Trump had been invited to attend the Asean Summit 2025 in Malaysia. However, a group of 23 NGOs have urged Putrajaya to cancel the invitation due to the US’ role in Israel’s ongoing genocide against Palestine.

If so, it would be a wasted opportunity to show the world that Malaysians are vehemently opposed to US support for Israel's actions against the Palestinians, particularly in the Gaza Strip.

If Trump comes to our country, the world's spotlight will be on Malaysia. It would then be an opportune time to demonstrate that we are against the atrocities carried out by the US in supporting genocides and overthrowing foreign governments that it could not bring under its control.

We can do this by having the mother of all rallies in Malaysia, as this will be supported by all Malaysians eager to send the US a message and show solidarity with the rest of the world, as many Americans just don't get how unpopular their foreign policies and interventions are.

Organising just another protest march on Sept 6 would probably be a waste of time, as we ought to invite the US president to the Asean Summit.

And Trump’s arrival could mobilise the largest number of Malaysians to join the biggest rally ever in the country.
