When dissent is met with threat of revoking citizenship

It is so pathetic to read remarks and quotes by the government's elected representatives in various local and international media. Do they think that we still live in a bipolar world characterised by a constant fear in the shift of powers.

For God's sake, we live in a peaceful country and in a stable world, for that matter, where everyone listens to constructive criticism to improve oneself, be it domestically or internationally. The path our ministers are embarking on shows their lack of understanding of the transforming global politics, their own arrogance and self-righteous notions.

All the public did was to raise voices of concern so that we can live harmoniously without neglecting Malaysian citizens their rights. However as usual, the elected representatives goes gung ho on the demonstration as being racist, blatant lies, a hidden agenda to gain political mileage and so forth.

Yes, the main media may heed their calls but nothing can erase the truth. There are serious fundamental problems at the present stage that needs to be addressed. By using offensive methods, they are only further alienating themselves from the public.

Imagine, they are even talking about revoking Malaysian citizenships of those involved. What was the betrayal and treason? Simple because they voiced their grievances using different arenas. How inept can this be? The multiracial Malaysian public are pretty savvy.

At least give us that much a nod of confidence rather than lashing out at pleasure and playing the race and religion cards. Where is the demureness, nicety and diplomacy in resolving issues? Internationally, our elected representatives are proven novices. There is nothing more to say as that would be an insult to the intelligence of my fellow kin.

Finally, please assess the situation for yourself as a Malaysian. The further we try to shun or hide from the truth, it will eventually hit us hard. We need to rationalise, deal with and solve inherent problems rather than crusading on a fault-finding mission.
