I am a foreigner (Nigerian) living in KL. I have been in this country for over six months now, studying at a college.

I am writing to complain about the harassment we receive from 'law enforcement officers'.

Every day we get some form of intimidation. Last week, two of my African friends and I were stopped by a man in plainclothes claiming to be a police officer. He asked us for our passports and when we requested to know who he was, he immediately called someone and spoke in a language we didn't understand. Another man came, speaking in a language we didn't understand, then said, "No English". After harassing us further, they brought out some sort of identity card so we gave them our passports. They went through them and said we foreigners are destroying Malaysia.

We are always afraid to go out because almost everyone acts aggressively towards us. No one seems to be interested to know us or our country and people. I think we are viewed as the enemies of Malaysia. I really can't wait to go away from Malaysia and be with other places that might want to learn something from me.

I hope Malaysiakini.com will help us draw attention to the populace (especially the taxi drivers) that we are people and not animals.

Please, sir, we have nowhere to turn to.
