I attended the Keadilan Ponggal function last Saturday (Feb 17) also attended by Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and Dr Chandra Muzaffar at the Letchumanan Hall in Klang. It was supposed to be a Ponggal Vizza (harvest festival), but turned out to be an insult to Hindus. Besides the banana tree and the sugar cane placed at the entrance of the hall, there was nothing else to commemorate Ponggal Vizza except the political speeches which have never been part of the celebration.

To add insult to injury, beef soup and beef burger was sold just outside where the banana tree and the sugar cane tree was placed. I think Keadilan should stick to becoming a Malay party. They would perhaps do more justice that way.

A Keadilan ceramah at the same venue just before the 1999 general elections attracted about 1,500 Indians. But this time, only about 100 Indians attended and about 1,000 over Malays attended. There has been a drop of over 95 percent in Indian attendance at Keadilan ceramah .

At a Keadilan Deepavali function in 1999, I recollect that many Indians who were supporters of Keadilan left immediately after the announcement that Wan Azizah could not attend. Such was the Indian support for Keadilan then. But judging from the Ponggal function last Saturday, Keadilan has lost the support of the Indians.
