N Rawi's letter entitled [#1] Samy Vellu and MIC has done a lot [/#] (Feb 20) failed to mention Samy Vellu's mega-corruption allegations, namely the RM60 million Telekom shares scandal which deprived the poor Indian community of yet another avenue out of poverty, the failure of Maika Holdings which sucked dry the estate Indians with hardly any return on investment, the dissolution of the South Indian Labour Fund, etc.

If, as Rawi claims, Samy Vellu has contributed much to the education of Indian Malaysians, how can one explain the explosion of Indian gangsterism as well as the astronomical alcohol and drug abuse in the Indian community?

Samy Vellu should have, among others, focused on the Indian housing problem; there are thousands of Indians in Puchong, Selangor, living in the squatters, with hardly any proper sanitation, water supply or electricity.

The only thing Samy Vellu has done well is to enrich himself, as can be gleaned from the million-ringgit wedding of his son. It is tragic that the Indians have such a selfish leadership.

We, the Indian Malaysians, challenge Samy Vellu to declare his assets and we demand a royal commission of inquiry be set up to investigate the allegations pertaining to the Telekom shares, Maika Holdings and the South Indian Labour fund. Until and unless these issues are settled satisfactorily, no sane Malaysian Indian will believe Samy Vellu has done anything good .
