Having read some of the letters presumably written by Malaysians of Indian descent, complaining about all the lowly treatment that they have encountered, I would like to relate an experience a friend of mine had to endure.

He had driven up the foyer of the Shangri-La to pick up an English friend of his who was leaving the hotel with his luggage. My friend opened the booth of his car, an expensive continental, without getting out of the driver's seat and the English friend went to the back to leave his luggage there.

The doorman working at the hotel, an Indian, then opened the back door of the car, presumably to show in the English man where he 'belonged' in a car driven by an Indian!

Would it, therefore, be possible for us Indians to begin to respect our own kind first before expecting others to do so us?
