I live in a small town and often go back to my kampung . I don't see any instances of Malays not on talking terms with each other or segregating themselves in the mosques or surau due to their different political beliefs. Generally, the majority of the kampung folk are now educated, compared to the situation in the 1950s or 1960s. They are not the stupid fools Umno assumes them to be.

I think Umno is day-dreaming and is afraid of its own shadows for it no longer has the support of the majority of the Malays as shown in the 1999 general elections. The majority of the Malays now realise that they have been misled for a long time by Umno into believing that Umno is their only savior, whereas its leaders are only busy saving themselves and enriching their families and cronies, neglecting the welfare of the ordinary people.

When the majority of the Malays shifted their support to PAS and Keadilan, Umno created stories that the Malays are now divided. The party thinks that Malays remain united only when they support Umno. Who is to be blamed for the loss of support for Umno? Their leaders committed blunder after blunder, from the handling of the Anwar Ibrahim issue to the bailout of MAS' Tajudin Ramli and the increased water tariffs and food prices.

PAS is wasting its time with this so-called Malay unity talk - if it is not careful it will be taken for a ride by Umno.
