Can someone please explain why EPF abandoned its huge PJ headquarters in Jalan Gasing, and rushed to rent nine floors of office space from an Umno building in Shah Alam?

I went to the abandoned HQ just the other day. Upon entering the main entrance to the familiar building, I was approached by a friendly security guard. He was handing out little slips of notice to visitors informing them that EPF had moved to Shah Alam.

I found out from him that the huge building was abandoned last September as the directive was issued from above to move out quickly to Shah Alam. I was told the move was made out of respect for the recently-acquired city status of Shah Alam and that the EPF staff were unhappy about it. It's been six months and the old building is still untenanted.

Now isn't this a sheer waste of members' money? Who would do such a thing - abandon one's own building in a hurry, and then rent a huge office elsewhere. Is this the way to manage the rakyat 's hard-earned money? With this kind of decision-making, is it any wonder that EPF dividends are shrinking every year?
