The third millennium may well turn out to be explosive in matters relating to technology, in particular digital and biotechnology, where further advances in these fields are expected to open up new frontiers of discovery, exploration and leading eventually to its application and consumption.

In the midst of all these advances, the first human clone will also make its presence, unperturbed. One probable area where their services will be invaluable will be in the military where human clones with specific instruction through genetic manipulation will be assigned for covert operations in enemy and friendly territories with astounding success. These sparkling sciences will be confined to a few elite nations just as the splitting of the atom and the resulting nuclear weapons are the dominion of a selected few.

Elsewhere, much of the population will go down with an unending cycle of poverty, illiteracy, war and famine, due mainly to the continuation of the existing political, social and economic structure. Terrorism and sectarianism will be heard with more intensity and sophistication, draining away much of the affected nations' limited resources. Generally, the divide between the rich and the poor and between the knowledgeable and the illiterate will be light-years apart.
