I agree with what the writer says. When I read about the scandal the first time, I thought this year, 2008, is going to be different. Just into the New Year and this scandal erupts.

My irritation then was how did this man get into this mess. Surely he should know better than to be entangled with a woman and bad enough to be videotaped while engaged in sex. Little did I knew then that he had been maneuvered to be caught on tape to satisfy the powers to be that were trying their best to bring him down.

The sex scene was taped some six months back and the DVDs were pushed into mail-boxes along some main roads in Batu Pahat. Till today the police are unable to say who initiated this drama.

Apparently Chua had been frequenting this hotel suite (cost RM800 per night) for some time and the perpetrators of this scandal knew his movements. The CCTV equipment was even found in the bathroom. A well-devised plan.

The only mistake the doctor made was to resign in haste. Fast forward to what is happening now during the Lingam Tape royal commission of inquiry - all he had to say was ‘I am not the one’. But he fell into the trap and whether he was deceived is another point of contention for he succumbed to the wishes of his masters.

He has now been redeemed and made the chief advisor to the Johor MCA. Whether this will ignite hope for his return to politics, I don't know. What I know is that he is well-liked by the Johor populace.

As the writer commented, he is a good doctor and is praised by his fraternity. I, too, have received favourable comments about his responsibilities as a minister with him visiting all the health clinics in his care (which I believe other health ministers never did) and was trying to bring order to the health ministry.

He is also a good speaker, albeit in Bahasa Malaysia and Mandarin and is a no-nonsense type of guy which irked his political masters.

I think Chua never did worse than anybody else. He is a male, has roving eyes and all that though he was indiscreet. Whether he marries the mistress at the expense of his wife of many years is subject to debate.

What matters is notwithstanding your weakness, we wish you well.
