We are extremely saddened to learn that some unwise opposition leaders are badly fracturing the unity required to save our beloved Malaysia from economic, social, religious, humanitarian and legal turmoil.

With so many issues and a weak prime minister, there might never be a better time to trounce the Barisan Nasional, especially the racially-motivated and corrupt MIC, MCA, Gerakan and Umno parties.

Senior opposition leaders should be careful in giving statements that the BN media machinery could use to spin stories. Similarly, these leaders should refrain from giving statements that send the wrong signals to voters.

Kelantan Mentri Besar Nik Aziz Nik Mat’s recent negative statement about PKR and Anwar, PKR information chief Tian Chua's statement on PKR’s intention to pit their candidates against all DAP candidates and DAP Secretary-General Lim Guang Eng’s complaint about the unwillingness of PKR leaders to compromise are a few examples of wrong messages to send to Malaysian voters as the election nears.

The BN is saying the opposition is disorganised and, as such, will never be able to serve the country properly. Unfortunately, unwise and impatient opposition leaders are making fools of themselves by playing into BN trap.

If the opposition misses the golden opportunity presented by this general election to reduce BN seats by half, the only morally acceptable punishment for all irresponsible opposition leaders will be to pelt them rotten eggs and prevent them from returning with future empty promises. They should be ashamed for spoiling and wasting such a good opportunity.

Some very greedy opposition leaders should stop being so selfish - they must not spoil the soup. The opposition must be extremely concerted this time around and willing to compromise.

Now, it is acceptable to make one step backwards to move two step forwards to reduce the BN majority. Please don't be penny wise and pound foolish. This is the time to lose small battles to win a war. All opposition leaders: please grow up. Kindly live up to people’s hopes or go to hell (but spare the majority).
