Malaysiakini should not get so agitated against the mainstream media depicting the past actions of certain key people in malaysiakini ([#1] Radical pasts build democratic futures [/#], March ). My own perception of the articles and letters posted in malaysiakini is that they are 99.9 percent critical, sometimes in some unqualified and questionable way, of the government of the day. It reminds me of this quote: 'The truth is out there, but so are the lies.'

If malaysiakini can give, it must also be able to take. That, I believe, is only fair and logical. Malaysiakini wants to cross all limits of media ethic and decorum, but is very annoyed to be given the same medicine.

And for those who think street demos are the only tool to seize power, don't be so infantile. What makes them think that their power, if they ever get it, would not be seized from them in a similar manner? What would prevent these upstarts from repressing people in order to keep the power they seized through street demos? It's a very scary thought. Choice through elections is the only answer for Malaysia.
