I understand Astro is now trying to get into the Malaysia Book of Records as having the most detailed subscription form ever. The even want to extend the closing date for customers to return the subscription forms, so insistent are they.

I am NOT going to fill in all my personal details just to get a so-called ‘free’ subscription to their programme schedule. I think that company is just too much. In order to receive their programme schedule, we have to surrender all our personal details to them.

What does information about the type of dwelling, household income, number of credit cards owned etc, got to do with getting a television programme schedule?

As far as I am concern it is Astro’s responsibility to send us the programme schedule or publish it in the local newspapers. Period.

They are already raking in billions every year and yet they want to put customers through the inconvenience of returning the form to them when they already have basic information about their customers. Lastly, why should their own customers pay for the postage to send them the form?

Only in Malaysia can they do all this nonsense and get away with it.
