After reading this article, [#1] Cyberjaya - Plenty of bytes but no bites [/#] (March 17), I have a feeling that malaysiakini is becoming lax in selecting the articles to be published. I understand that the online daily is trying to promote freedom of the press and that there are issues that it might be struggling with in Malaysia on this aspect, but I am starting to think that criticism about malaysiakini being one-sided and only critical of the government could be true.

Although the above article is but an opinion, I do not agree that it should be published in this website. Please try to publish news that contain informative facts and figures, on your main page at least. The Cyberjaya article belongs more in the gossip section.

I see the shortcomings in the Multimedia Super Corridor as a result of the unfortunate economic crisis that hit not only Malaysia, but pretty much all of Asia a few years ago. I don't see the point in ridiculing the current situation. Instead of painting the situation in such bad light, does the writer have any opinion on what should be done or how it should be handled?

As a foreigner, I don't favour any particular political party and I do question some of the present government practices, but with regard to the MSC, I feel that Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad should be applauded for at least having the foresight and initiative to build it. The MSC started before the economic crisis hit the region, and initially even Singapore was concerned about losing its ICT edge to Malaysia.

As I see it, one can be critical about the MSC, as some Americans can be critical of Nasa and the spending of billions of dollars of people's tax money that could have been spent for the more needy. But the fact is that many benefits were derived from the spin-off technology from Nasa programmes. I believe this is what the present government wants the MSC to bring as well - an idea that can benefit many Malaysians by bringing in new technology and skills to the country.

I wish for the success of malaysiakini , which I value for its news resources of events in Malaysia. So as an appreciative reader, I implore malaysiakini not to publish news or opinions that contain hidden agendas. Be informative, bring arguments from different views, be a good news website and not a gossip website.
