I refer to the Malaysiakini report If you don't vote MIC, 'prepare to pay price' .

The Indians have a long history in this country since the 1900 for they have played an important role in the country’s development. Growth in the plantation sector was left in the hands of the Indians and they were only given a place to stay, poor salaries and the incentive of the setting up of Tamil schools and temples in the estates. The rail tracks were built by the Indians to improve the transportation infrastructure in the country.

As a form of entertainment there were Tamil movies and a toddy shops to intoxicate the Indians. Even with these meagre benefits, they served the master well and consistently voted for the Alliance and thereafter the Barisan Nasional. During each election they were promised many things in terms of education, employment, opportunities in land schemes, housing and better benefits. After each election, the promises were forgotten and the leaders not seen until the next elections.

For the last 11 elections the Indians voted for Barisan with the hope that they will get a piece of the the economic pie but this was no where to be seen. Lately, it was noticed that we were deprived and plundered in every field such as education, employment opportunities, scholarships, land ownership and even places of worship. Are these the rewards for voting for the Barisan continuously for 11 consecutive general elections?

We have lost everything and our equity is eroding quite fast so therefore, there is no point in voting for Barisan anymore. Enough has been said on this matter and all Indians should cast their votes for Barisan Rakyat. For once, the ruling party must realise the strength of the now united Indians and their importance in forming the government.

The government of the day should decide whether they want the votes from the entire Indian community or only the votes from MIC members. Barisan component parties are selectively eliminating the opportunities available for Indians.

Our prime minister says he is responsible for the non-Muslims too but where was he when the temples were torn down? Why did he fail to meet Hindraf representatives despite several requests? Is this how you show care and concern for the non-Muslims. Many a time you do not live up to your word.

The Indian community is disappointed with you and this shall be shown on voting day. We believe in God and with the will of God we shall overcome all the obstacles that hamper the progress of the Indians. You can detain, prosecute and demolish the hopes of aspiring Indians but for how long can you keep it up?

The Indian community shall succeed because our unity is gaining strength daily and we shall strive to improve and support our brothers and sisters who are living in poverty.

Our society must now develop a new initiative to face the future without any handouts from the government. Let us boycott the leaders who have humiliated us. Stay away from MIC functions.

The IPF once spoke about our liberation from the maharaja of Indian politics (S Samy Vellu) to preserve the rights of the community but today IPF is aligned with the MIC at the expense of the Indians. IPF is a traitor to the community. We should form alternative groups to explore ways to assist the needy Indians.

The mass media is now bombarding us with threatening messages that the Indians must vote for Barisan or the community shall be left behind. My fellow brothers, be firm and say a big ‘NO’ to Barisan.
