Bersih made its point on the need to free and fair elections. Hindraf went to the streets to highlight

the marginalisation of Indians. Many have been indeed influenced by these events. But by and large, many Malaysians like me have been influenced to vote for the opposition for the first time with a heavy heart, not because of Bersih, Hindraf or even Anwar.

It is because that this government has forced me too by its arrogant ways, incompetency, lack of transparency, widespread corruption, lack of democratic space, increase in prices etc not forgetting the dire straits the judiciary is in.

I am not holding anything against the opposition because it was not ruling this country, the BN was and it would be right of me to hold the BN responsible for the many ills facing us now. The arrogance that the BN government has displayed after getting the blank cheque during the last election is beyond belief.

It has very, very miserably and dangerously abused this mandate and it is only right that the BN should be denied this sort of arrogant power this time around. So, it is not just Bersih, Hindraf, Anwar, etc. It is beyond all that for the BN government stands in the dock for its arrogance and misdeeds. It would be an act in futility to divert the attention to others or other issues. The government has a lot to answer for and we have not seen or heard any plausible defence for its policies and attitude.

Talking of ‘big ears’ to hear the rakyat ’s pleas, ‘work with me and not for me’, etc have become shallow and hollow to us and the mask has worn-off long time ago. The only way to force this government to mend its ways would be to deny it its two-thirds majority and the only way we can do this is to vote in the opposition.

Whether the opposition has the credentials or not is not an issue anymore. The issue is to deny BN its majority. Ask the common man in the street, he will tell you that it does not matter anymore whether it is PAS, PKR or DAP. Just vote against BN. This government had not listened to the moderate and legitimate voices of this country and it has to pay the price for its folly.

The opposition did not win plus points on its own volition, the BN gave them the points for the opposition to ride on.
