When fish get out of water, they tend to flip-flop violently in their death throes. Maybe the same thing is happening to Umno?

Now, I'd be the first to admit that I can be a bit thick at times. Stupidity, in fact, is almost a given with me.

So maybe someone can help explain something to me and put my tiny brain at rest.

The question I have is this: Why did our Prime Minister convene a panel made up of 'independent' Umno members to investigate the alleged misuse of state funds in Pahang?

Isn't that a state government affair? So shouldn't the investigation - independent or not - be carried out by the police, ACA or some other panel comprising governmental authorities?

See, I don't understand this flip-flopping. When PAS put forward its demands for the unity talks, it was the man in the centre of the controversy, Information Minister Khalil Yaakob no less, who said it was beyond the powers of Umno to fulfill those demands. He said, and I quote, "Umno is not the federal government."

So now why is Umno getting involved in a state government matter? How come the same Khalil Yaakob now sits silently next to Dr Mahathir when he is the central figure of this accusation?

The conclusion I have made following this issue is that Umno has basically admitted it is the government, and the government is Umno. Would anyone care to correct me on that?

If not, then let's have those pre-conditions settled without any further delay, eh boys?
