Responding to Chak's letter ([#1] So, what happened to Justice Shaik Daud? [/#], March 31), I'm proud and thankful there are still good and honest judges who dare to stand up to those 'influential people'. At the same time kudos to the officers who also dare to voice their frank opinions about the happenings in the judiciary, be it under the old management or the new Chief Justice.

For the record, the officers in the legal and judicial service who are deemed to be friendly or sympathetic to the other side are always 'rewarded ' with immediate transfers or blacklisted, even today. The so-called transparency and rejuvenation of the judiciary trumpeted by the new CJ with the help of his 'inner circle ' are nothing more than pleasantries and sweet talk. Suddenly, golf, which incidentally, is the new CJ's favourite sport, seems to be the game in the service. Welcome to politics of the legal service.
