Around last week, Subang Jaya residents were informed in the form of a pamphlet card put into our post boxes that Syabas would do pipe changing outside the people's houses and the card emphasised that the work would only be done outside of the one's gate and that residents should not park their cars outside to hinder work.

I came home from work yesterday with a rude shock. The outer wall of my house and drain facing the main road was badly damaged when they changed the pipes. The land and grass outside my house was dug in such a detrimental way and was not put back to its original state of a decent land area of just flat grass.

More shockingly and unbelievable the Syabas people jumped over my gate like prowlers and detached the water meter which is located inside of my gate and fixed the water meter outside of the gate and changed some piping connected to my water filter which is located inside my gated compound.

As a result, my RM1,500 water filter seems to be not functioning. There were foot marks all over my gate with rubbish in my compound.

I have since lodged a police report against Syabas for this trespass at the Subang Jaya police station and it is being classified as a ‘kes jenayah’ being criminal in nature equivalent to breaking and entering one's premises.

Besides entering my premises illegally and causing damage to my property in my compound, the Syabas workers left food leftovers and dirty clothing outside my gate which has resulted in my house looking unsightly.

I would like to ask the executive chairman of Syabas Rozali Ismail, as he is vicariously liable for the conduct of his employees, what gives your company the right to trespass (a criminal act) into my property and cause property damage? And who is going to pay for my damages/ compensation of restoring my property to the exact state prior to your company damaging it?
