If Inspector-General of Police Norian Mai is a man of honour and principle, he should resign immediately because he has brought disgrace and dishonour to the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) by consenting to be exploited by desperate politicians. Another reason he should resign is that he has failed to investigate police reports against Umno politicians on their alleged corruption.

As many writers have pointed out very correctly, PDRM is supported by taxpayers' money to maintain security but not meddle in democratic politics, emulating the Indonesian military (Abri) who protected not the Indonesian nation, but only ex-president Suharto, his family and cronies. PDRM must restore their own sense of honour, dignity and self-respect by not kowtowing to Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Umno.

The only way PDRM can show their seriousness in restoring their battered esteem is for the IGP to resign immediately. He has lost public credibility the moment he concocted the wild and nightmarish fantasy of 'rocket launchers' and 'molotov cocktails'. Norian Mai should go to US or UK to take a refresh course on police science.
