It has been several weeks of reports and letters telling Suhakam to check out the Internal Security Act (ISA) detainees. Suhakam's strange stance on the matter puzzles me. Are the commissioners like politicians waiting for the people's mandate? Sampai bila? (For how long more?)

Please do not be taken in by the police's tea party where tea and chocolates are served during family visits. This - and the family visits - is just a public relations exercise.

It is also very strange that Suhakam has overlooked the most glaring call for review in their first report - that of the Human Rights Commission Act itself. Why so coy about demanding for more powers?

Commissioners give the excuse that they are part-timers, but there are 13 commissioners. NGOs with less manpower have done more. We the people demand more for our money. Times are hard for us, too.

By the way, whatever happened to all the opposition ceramah s on corruption now that the 10 are in jail?
