I would like to propose a Light Rail Transit (LRT) for Semenyih and Beranang, which today has poor and deplorable public transportation. The area is growing in density (with KL workers residing here and the setting up of Nottingham University Campus), therefore better public transportation needs to be expedited.

City workers are now relying on personal or public transportation for transit. Public transportation involves constant frustration in waiting for buses which take more than one hour to reach the Kotaraya bus station in KL.

The route starts of through Jalan Semenyih, stopping in Kajang town, plowing through Jalan Cheras, crawling through Jalan Pudu before reaching the KL station. Traffic, irregular service, slow buses and breakdowns make travel completely unpredictable and random.

No other option is present for those traveling on public transport.

The proposed KL transport draft plan indicates a LRT line to Kajang. If the line reaches Kajang, why not bring the line further until Semenyih and Beranang? Semenyih and Beranang maybe next to Kajang, but road travel is absurdly long(30 minutes) for the reasons outlined before.

From Kajang there is an average 15 minutes waiting time for the KTM Komuter, and the Komuter itself takes 45 minutes to broach the city centre. Compare this to the 30 minutes it takes to drive to KL from Semenyih.

The proposed LRT stations can be located in Semenyih town, Bandar Tasik Kesuma (near the flats), above the Kajang Komuter station (making it a transportation hub) and Kajang town centre (preferably near the Metro Kajang Shopping Centre).

This measure will in tandem with the KL draft plan reduce pollution and traffic congestions. Finally, KL can become a place with fast, safe and convenient transportation, befitting a world class city or megalopolis.
