I read the unsigned clarification issued by Sin Chew Jit Poh with interest and great amusement. There is no doubt that 'technically' and 'legally', Sin Chew Jit Poh or Pemandangan Sinar Sdn.Bhd as separate entities cannot be said to be involved in the MCA's takeover of Nanyang Siang Pau and China Press .

But what about Tan Sri Tiong Hiew King himself who, besides owning Sin Chew Jit Poh and Pemandangan Sinar, also owns other business entities, within the country and internationally?

Tan Sri Tiong is well-known in the Chinese community for owning a wide range of businesses, including logging interests in Sarawak and Papua New Guinea. He also owns Ming Pao and Yazhouzukan (Chinese Asiaweek ) in Hong Kong, Toronto Ming Pao in Canada and English-language daily Nation in Papua New Guinea.

If 'former' CEO of Pemandangan Sinar (which publishes Sin Chew Jit Poh ) Mr PC Liew and another former deputy chief editor of Sin Chew have joined China Press and Nanyang Siang Pau as caretakers, whose business concern(s) are they representing? From whom are they receiving their orders?

Sin Chew must let the public know Mr PC Liew's resignation date. I do not recall seeing any announcement on the paper over the matter. As for the ex-deputy chief editor of Sin Chew who has moved into Nanyang and China Press , may the public know what company he is working for?

Sin Chew claims its ex-staff in Nanyang and Sin Chew are technically and legally not acting on behalf of Sin Chew since they have left the company. Perhaps Tan Sri Tiong should come out to truthfully clarify this.
