I refer to the letter by Anita Loh 'Pearl Harbor and the ISA'( June13). My first question is what exactly was she implying regarding the connection between Pearl Harbor and the ISA?

If you have got anything useful to say, at least make the point clear. I doubt if anybody understood what she was inferring, was it that if Mahathir and his Special Branch were there at the time, Pearl Harbor wouldn't have been bombed?

Also I would like her to stop for a while and think about the statement about the man who shouted "bomb" at the airport.

Of course in those cases it is perfectly acceptable by everyone (and by this, I mean all people in the government and opposition in Malaysia as well) for the police to detain him.

But the real issue is how long would he be detained. If in fact there was a bomb threat, then he would most certainly be charged in an open court, not locked up in solitary confinement for 60 days for interrogation. If there was no charge, the police must let him go within 24 hours.

I would like to implore to people like Anita, please think before you write next time.
