In the Huaren take over of Nanyang Press Holdings, The ultimate winner will be Tiong Hiew King and his Sin Chew Jit Poh media group.

The reasoning is simple - by collaborating with Huaren and if the takeover does not make waves, Tiong will ultimately achieve his ambition to become "the Ultimate Media Baron of Malaysia" and in the process become the king maker, whom the MCA president would have to " kow-tow " to.

On the other hand, in the eventuality that heavy sentiments have been evoked against the takeover, as it is being played out now, and in the final analysis, if Tiong has to call off his takeover of Nanyang press, in the coming months, he will still emerge victorious, as Nanyang 's circulation and advertising would have fallen to a hemorrhaging level, whereas Sin Chew 's circulation and advertising will no doubt be reaping all the advantages from this episode.

It is only logical and advantageous to any businessman therefore to invest either to gain another media group in order to build up a media empire or to murder a competitor and reap the eventual huge financial return.

Ling Liong Sik and not MCA has to face the brunt of the impact, and the Nanyang Press staff have only Ling to blame and no one else.
