Whatever I know of Hishamuddin Rais is through his Dotmai column and recently through what others say of him. In these write-ups, none have referred to Hishamuddin as an Anwar Ibrahim supporter. Thus Eileen Ng's report ('Umno to meet as Mahathir marks 20 years in power', June 17) lumping Hishamuddin is as one of the 10 Anwar supporters may be incorrect.

I also refer to Fathi Aris Omar's opinion on demos ('Demo mimpi ngeri Mahathir', 17 Julai)and wish to emphasise that many street protests are not necessarily linked to Anwar or Black 14. If this is the case, I would not be there on the streets. I am not an Anwarista! Protests are not the monopoly of political parties and should not be seen as such. This may undermine other efforts.

Thus an ISA protest is an ISA protest even if the victims belong to political parties. It may be hard for some to believe, but not all on the streets are enamoured by Barisan Alternatif or Anwar Ibrahim.
