I disagree with GKH's 'A-bomb saved lives' (June 19) letter. There is absolutely no justification for using an atom bomb on civilians as in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The use of nuclear weapons is cruel and evil.

Nuclear weapons do not target those directly responsible for creating war. Innocent people, especially women, children and the elderly are killed as well. Not only human life is lost, but the flora and fauna is decimated as well.

Those who survived in Hiroshima, were so horribly deformed that death would have been preferable. Many children of the survivors were disabled because radiation destroys human genes.

I cannot fathom how people can actually support such cruelty towards mankind and other living creatures. The use of nuclear weapons is cruel and evil and can never be justified.
