I've been keenly following the Keadilan-PRM merger plan for quite some time.Before the Anwar Ibrahim saga, PRM was a lone wolf.

Few people either knew of or bothered about its existence. Even today, if people talk about PRM, the only name emerging is Dr Syed Husin Ali and to a lesser extent Dr Sanusi Othman. In the wake of reformasi and following the formation of Gerak, PAS, Keadilan and DAP have extended their arms to PRM whom they can just ignore if they wish.

If PRM, formerly PSRM (Parti Sosialis Rakyat Malaysia) has truly ditched its 'socialist' ideology - which was done, if I am not mistaken, after the Anwar saga - then why can't it hold an EGM and propose to dissolve itself, which will allow its members to join Keadilan, more so if it shares Keadilan's vision. Does the PRM top brass aim to turn Keadilan into a 'socialist' party later on?

Unfortunately, my current conclusion is that those people in PRM want to ensure that they will be given the red-carpet treatment by Keadilan, i.e. to remain as leaders after the merger, in an out-of-the-ordinary manner i.e. without having to contest at the branch or divisional level in Keadilan. I am pretty sure that if the merger plan goes ahead, at the very least, the duo of Dr Syed Husin and Dr Sanusi will be 'appointed' instead of 'elected' into the supreme council of Keadilan.
