Stock mart not a casino

In response to the letter entitled 'Would PAS close down KLSE?' (June 20), investing in KLSE is not the same as gambling. Smart investors like Warren Buffet only spend a few minutes a day in the stock markets, yet make tons of money. There is much more to KLSE than contra gains or speculative play. Islam allows the existence of the stock exchange as a place to buy a piece of a company, but certainly not as an opportunity to gamble.
I'd like to add to the queries in 'A gambling question for the learned' (June 20) - what do other religions say about gambling? From the last study PAS did on the matter, they either advocated followers to refrain from it, or did not state it to be part of their religious duties. So, gambling's out.
