The Prime Minister has now openly admitted that he sanctioned the takeover of Nanyang Press Holdings by MCA. When the controversy got bad, he asked the group of businessmen who wanted to take over MCA's entire stake, to reserve some shares for the political party.

I am watching what will happen. If it turns out that the MCA votes in favour of the takeover because Dr Mahathir Mohamad wants it, then it will confirm what we have always believed: MCA is a gutless party. It cannot say it represents the Chinese. But it can claim to being an agent of Umno.

If the group of eight agree to let MCA have some shares because the PM wants it, then the Chinese have no representation whatsoever left.

Suqiu crumbled under pressure and if this happens again, we can only say the Chinese have no guts and will forever be trodden upon.

When will we ever stand up when principles are at stake?
