I refer to the news report 'Mahathir says press row over, tells MCA to unite' (June 25). As his own party Umno is still kelam kabut (in a chaos), Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad simply has no moral authority to tell MCA to unite. It is as hilarious and absurd as a chain-smoker urging his son to give up the bad habit. Heal thyself first, doctor.

Although I am not an MCA member, I find more to admire in the party than Dr Mahathir's Umno. Look at MCA Youth leader Ong Tee Keat. He dared to lead a delegation to confront his own president. This moral courage is much lacking in Umno Youth. Umno Youth is just a bunch of yes-men of the president.

Look at MCA's Number 2 Lim Ah Lek. When he disagrees with the Number 1, he dared to say so openly. If Lim were in Umno, he would probably have been jailed as a spy or homosexual long before he could make any public statements of dissent.

Dr Mahathir has simply lost his moral authority, even among Chinese Malaysians.
