Dear Umno,

It's high time for you to bow out. In fact, you should have gone long ago. This country has turned from Malaysia into ‘Malaise-sia’ all because of the brand of politics that you practice and the type of government that you run.

As the domineering party in the ruling coalition, Malaysia's fortunes (or misfortunes rather), have all been a result of your incompetence, corruption and devious scheming. You are no longer relevant

In the context of the historical and political development of the country in the colonial era, Umno's formation at that time may have been relevant but in today's contemporary society and new political environment, race-based parties are no longer applicable and are in fact a hindrance to true national integration and progress.

This applies not only to Umno but to the MCAs and MICs as well. Race-based parties are just a very crude, primitive and old-fashioned and an unenlightened political philosophy which have no place in today's society and Malaysia is just one of the Neanderthals in the world that still has political organisations based on racial delineations as versus ideological differentiation.

As long as ethnicity is the common basis for political association, the potential for discord will always be heightened as somehow, race can be one of the most divisive elements in society, after religion.

The political tsunami of March 8 has already signaled and ushered in a new era and it has clearly shown that the populace has rejected the race-based model propagated by the BN and instead has favored a broad-based Bangsa Malaysia platform which should have been the better approach for the country, even from Day One.

You've created divisiveness in the country by stooping so low as to fan racism and incite fear and hatred so that you can manipulate the situation to justify your existence to maintain political power and pursue financial benefits for yourselves.

You're just driven by a craze for power and money at whatever the cost, regardless of law and moral principles. From its initial objectives, the organisation has just degenerated into a Utilitarian Money Networking Organisation for that select circle.

Not only that, you've done a dismal job of running the country. Umno and the BN always like to sing about the great progress and development that Malaysia has achieved over the last 50 years. While it is true that Malaysia has come a long way since Merdeka, we could have actually climbed so much higher if we only had a clean and capable government.

As a comparison, look at Singapore. About 30+ years ago, one Singapore dollar was worth the same as one Ringgit. Today, that same Singapore dollar is worth 2.3 times the Malaysian Ringgit.

Singapore's GDP per capita is five to six times that of Malaysia. And even though their population is just about one sixth that of Malaysia, their total GDP is just slightly below Malaysia's GDP. And they achieved all these despite the fact that they did not have any natural resources.

Malaysia, on the other hand, had tin, rubber, oil palm, timber and petroleum. All these commodities yielded trillions over the years and despite this, we're still economically worse off than Singapore by more than a mile.

So, Umno/ BN you have the cheek to say you did a good job? If we really had a capable and clean government, there's absolutely no doubt that by today, Malaysia would have been the tiger of South East Asia!

I don't even want to talk about your internal party squabbles but just want to comment on something very fundamental like the basic identity of the party itself. Umno was established as a nationalist organisation to champion the Malay race, culture and language.

Okay, so tell me why after 62 years and the millions of members who have come and joined the party, no one has ever thought about how ironical it is to have the party's name itself ( United Malays Nationalist Organisation ) using the language of its colonial masters?

If you were a party to champion the Malay language, surely the least you could do is to name that party in Malay isn't it? Till today, the name of the party is proudly displayed everywhere (including that huge sign at its headquarters) using its English initials, Umno, rather than PKMB.

And you're the one always harping on the use of the Malay language. You can't even get your own act together for your party and you think you can run the country? You can definitely ruin the country, not run it.

Oh, just as an aside – do you know why Umno always seems to have serious internal conflicts every 10 years? According to feng shui experts, it's got to do with the inappropriate logo chosen for the party.

Other than military organisations, the use of weapons ( in this case, the keris) in an emblem is problematical because it's a symbol of fighting and the two crossed keris clearly indicate ‘crossing of swords’.

This is made worse by the red color, an aggressive, fiery color that further accentuates the problem. The crossed keris mark out the numeral ‘X’, thus the conflict every 10 years (1988,1998 and 2008 ).

But don't worry, there won't be a fourth time after the next 10 years – because there won't be an Umno by then. The bottom line is very simple :

Enough is enough. Everyone's sick of your lies and wicked, scheming ways. Everyone's got better options now.
