I refer to the Malaysiakini report Disruption of 'conversion' forum a black mark .

I urge our fellow Malaysians, particularly the non-Muslims, to look at this whole issue of the protest at the forum objectively and with maturity.

First of all, I can let out a sigh of relief and I am so very proud of the many Muslim brothers and sisters are able to view this forum as something healthy, something necessary and have the ability to look ahead.

We should keep in my mind that we should all find common ground and find ways to clear the gray areas and to put an end to the unjust and unfair conclusions towards Islam. Dr Narimah nailed it by explaining the difference of seeing so-called Muslims and not Islam.

So dear non-Muslims, keep in mind that Islam is a religion of God and it is beautiful in its purest form. Let us be very clear that it was the action of ignorant people who were instigated by people with political motives that resulted in such unbecoming behavior.

I was shocked to see the videos where some of them were even shouting that they will die for Islam. That is truly wonderful but I do not understand what was so threatening about the forum that it calls for a proclamation for martyrdom.

I have so many Muslim friends and relatives and from what I have learned about Islam over the years, it thrives on compassion, tolerance, gentleness and many other virtues. But what I saw on the day of the protest was anything but gentle or tolerant.

Thank heavens that none of the people attending the forum retaliated the abuse. Just one word would have sparked a chain reaction of violence, such was the intense negative energy on that day.

If anything at all, this incident should further spur all of us from the various races and religions to come together and champion what Prophet Muhammad (Pbuh), Jesus Christ, Krishna, Buddha and all the other prophets of God were trying to teach us and that is simply to love one another.

Assalammualaikum means peace be upon you. So to those of you who were so blinded by your uncalled anger and ignorance, remember this wonderful sentence. I hope and pray that this incident is a lesson that can be learned by all, not just Muslims but by the people of all other religions.

I am not a Muslim but I stand by the gentle and harmonious teachings brought by Prophet Muhammad (Pbuh) and all the other prophets of God.
