It does not take a genius to analyse the confession of Saiful - a college dropout - that Anwar Ibrahim had sodomised him.

The script is not well developed, I’m afraid. Or has it totally failed? It conspicuously smells of a conspiracy of the highest nature. No one had believed Saiful all this while and with the timing of this confession, nobody would ever believe this young man ever again.

The timing of this confession has made more people believe that this is an obvious plot to tarnish Anwar. The Election Commission announced the nomination date for the Permatang Pauh by-election and the very next day, Anwar was taken to court to be charged. A coincidence?

The timing of Saiful’s confession on the eve of the Permatang Pauh by-election nomination day is highly suspicious. Why didn’t he confess before this? Why didn’t he make a confession just after the charge was read out to Anwar in court? Why didn’t Saiful go to the mosque long before this date to swear on the Quran? Why choose this specific day?

Why say ‘it’ happened only once, when before this, he claimed it happened 8 times? If he says it was not consensual, why was Anwar charged for a consensual sexual act?

To counter this drama, Anwar should take a solemn oath in the name of Allah, swear on the Quran with some witnesses to settle the whole thing. This can be done immediately. Include in the oath and swearing that Saiful’s confession was a plot to tarnish his career in politics.

It is as simple as this and it will definitely settle the score. But let us not make this a precedent, for all those in the Sungai Buloh prison would then rush to do the same thing and the prison would be empty.

The public is left with too many confused versions of the story now. When there are too many versions masquerading as the truth, then all versions must be false. This is hence a lucid game designated to fix Anwar.

The explicit confession and expressing the crude act to the public - including children watching the prime news - itself is very unbecoming of a nation describing itself to be Islamic. The government should not have allowed a confession of this nature in the first place, as it has tarnished the image of Islam and the Malays.

But the desire to tarnish Anwar at all cost by some politicians with vested interested is far more important than the image of Islam and the Malays.

Until today, over 90 percent of Malaysians believe that this whole sordid sodomy episode is merely a plot to harm Anwar.

Just imagine this: Would any normal human being – without any vested interested or reward - go to the media and have his face and sordid confession be shown on TV? Even a seasoned prostitute would not do this unless of course if she is being paid to do so.

Keep in mind that being sodomised is a very shameful act and no person in their right mind would want to expose himself as a victim of such an act. There must undoubtedly be an ulterior motive to this episode.

This episode also expounds the theory that the whole confession was cooked-up. Remember, the charge against Anwar was for a consensual act of unnatural sex. But why is this man now saying that he was sodomised without his consent?

Why the discrepancy? Is it just because the charge against Anwar was not effective enough to tarnish his name? Why is the script now saying that he was the unwilling partner? There is now an obtrusive contradiction. The people cannot accept this anymore.

The whole plot will backfire and Anwar will get more support from the people.
