The hand of politics is everywhere
The ruling Barisan Nasional government is placing too much emphasis on politics, to the extent of using the country's resources to protect their political position.
The police, for example, have become so efficient in tracking down the opposition leaders involved in 'anti-government' activities. If the same amount of effort can be used instead to tackle the recent spate of crimes, I think the state of security in our country will see vast improvement.
On the other hand, I am sceptical of the government's purported all-out mission to tackle pirated CDs and porn VCDs. Would such items be easily available and sold openly everywhere if there were no corruption within the government?
In order to tackle these problems I think the government should clean up the police force, customs and immigration first.
