Shape up, DAP - or ship out
Looking at recent events involving DAP and PAS. I can now conclude that DAP is a true opposition party and will always remain an opposition party and will never form a Government.
When PAS was an opposition party like DAP, DAP decided to forge an alliance, Barisan Alternatif (BA), with PAS and other opposition parties for the purposes of denying Barisan Nasional (BN) a two-thirds majority in Parliament and also to form the next Federal Government.
Unfortunately, BA did not win enough seats at Federal level, but PAS managed to better its performance by winning Terengganu as well as retaining Kelantan thus forming two state governments.
I believe this is where the problem between PAS and DAP really started. Unlike PAS, DAP was not able to form the state government of Penang as they had envisioned.
So they took the stand that if they cannot be a ruling party they might as well continue to be an opposition party, for Kelantan and Terengganu as well.
So oppose they will, as they had also opposed the (opposition) PBS government in Sabah.
So to all in DAP I have only one thing to say, and that is "Do not have desires or dreams of ever being a ruling party until and unless you change your mind set!"
What DAP should actually be doing is to accept BA's success in Kelantan and Terengganu and to work with these two state governments (regardless of whether the government is Islamic, secular, socialist or whatever) to better the lot of the people in these two states, more so, the minority in these states, which they (DAP) have always wanted to be the champion of.
So they should be a contributor to these two states with BA and not DAP, the opposition party.
Maybe then DAP will be able to earn the respect of the electorate and be able to forge a better working relationship with their partners in BA.
