As a member of MCA and supporter of president Dr Ling Liong Sik, I commend him for his firm condemnation of the violent gangsterism in the MCA Youth AGM held last Friday. The pandemonium has brought shame to the party, Barisan Nasional and even the nation.

However, I think it is still necessary for Dr Ling as the president of the party to lodge a police report personally for two reasons:

One, to distance the party from gangsterism in the MCA Youth;

Two, to show that the party upholds the rule of law.

There are no two ways about it. President Ling must act firmly and decisively to arrest the decline of the image and standing of the party in the eyes of the public. People now are asking: what is the difference between MCA and MIC?
