I am not representing any political organisation, and I am neither a government supporter nor a opposition fighter. I believe that my comments would only represent the younger generation of the Chinese Malaysians.

The MCA Youth fracas on Friday is akin to them shooting themselves on the foot.

At the moment it might seem that choices are limited for the Chinese community, but if the DAP could actually be more consistent and realistic of its ideologies and administration, I believe DAP would be MCA's biggest challenger.

Not forgetting PAS, who also needs to put in a little sense in its views on the Chinese community and a major overhaul in its public relations; they will be fishing loads of the Chinese votes in the distant future.

There is also Keadilan, who might be able to fish some votes away if the government does not arrest all Keadilan members under the ISA.

Perhaps what was more saddening regarding the shameful event on Friday was that it involved the youth assembly. Have they just lost their sense of responsibility as the role models to the younger Chinese Malaysians?

I personally think that the tragedy will only further erode the young Chinese generation's interest in politics. My stand on this matter is that MCA should not discourage the young generation from politics nor involve them at such a tender age. Instead, they should create a political awareness among the generation in order to attract the best crop of these youths to join in the party's struggle.

This would ensure the continuity of the MCA as the premier party of the Chinese Malaysian and that the most qualified members of the Chinese community members would lead the party. I hope that MCA will sit up and take notice of my suggestion.

The MCA Youth fracas has let many people down, but more importantly the delegates have let down the young generation of Chinese Malaysians, the very same people who will lead and vote for the MCA party in the very near future.

Lastly, I have to say that on Aug 3, 2001, I was actually ashamed to be a Chinese Malaysian.
