Just when the deputy premier is on the cusp of getting nominations from Umno divisions to take over the helm of this country in the coming days, the ghost of the Mongolian gruesome murder victim resurfaces again.

Somehow the spirit of the murdered woman is restless and just like the Hollywood blockbuster film ‘Ghost’, the murdered victim is making her presence felt now and then to torment her assassins

The highly explosive details of the SMSes between Najib Abdul Razak and Shafee Abdullah, the former defence lawyer of accused Razak Baginda, raises some serious doubts on the involvement of the current deputy premier - or rather his wife - in this the high-profile murder case.

There is more than meets the eye here as the deputy premier very interested in protecting his close buddy Razak Baginda who is implicated in the murder.

Najib has sworn before Allah swt several times at public function that he does not know the murdered woman and is not involved in the gruesome murder. However, the latest disclosure on the SMS issue makes one wonder if the deputy premier is telling the truth or trying to prevent something from reaching the public’s ears. The truth cannot be erased in a sea of lies.

Mind you, the famous Blogger, Raja Petra Kamaruddin, who is currently incarcerated at Kamunting under the notorious ISA, had given a sworn statement that Najib’s wife was present when the murdered victim was blown up using the C4 explosives.

Somehow the denial by the deputy premier’s wife on the matter has not diffused the issue at hand among the skeptical public.

As the saying goes, it will take a thousand lies to cover one lie. There are so many unanswered questions about the involvement of prominent people in the killing of the Mongolian woman which remains a mystery until now. Surely we cannot have our future prime minister heading our nation with such allegations hanging over his head.

Najib will not have it easy if and when he replaces the incumbent prime minister in March 2009 as he has a lot of political baggage which can drag him down from his high post. Our country needs a clean leader who commands the respect of the masses in order to progress.

On that score Najib fails miserably as his long tenure in public office for more than three decades is tainted with various allegations including huge commissions being paid for arm purchases through his proxies.

The disappearance of P Balasubramaniam, the private investigator who had linked the deputy premier to the murder victim seems to be like a scene from a comedy movie. Where art thou Bala? People are waiting for you to give a proper explanation for your vanishing act. It is as if you are afraid that something will happen to you or your family if you remain in this country.

With parliament in session, expect more fireworks as the new opposition leader, Anwar Ibrahim, and his fellow MPs will surely raise the issue of Altantuya which will make Najib go on the defensive.

One week is too long in politics, what more six months. One does have doubts as to whether the present son of the former premier Abdul Razak can claim the top post come March 2009. Besides, will the present opposition leader spring a surprise and make it to the top if he has the necessary numbers of BN MPs who are willing to jump ship in the coming days?

The King has the sole prerogative to appoint a prime minister who commands the majority of support in parliament. Come March 2009 at the latest, Najib will have to marshal his troops in parliament to convince the King that he commands the support of the majority of MPs to become the sixth prime minister of our country.

Whether Najib will ride out the storms and claim his throne in the coming months is anybody’s guesses. This is Malaysia after all where anything goes.
