I congratulate Mr R Sivarasa for his stand in pursuing his right to hold posts both in the Bar Council and PRM. I am disappointed with the chairperson of the Malaysian Bar for objecting to Sivarasa's application and I think his rationale that it was to protect the independence of the bar does not make sense.

Those who oppose Sivarasa's application should resign and immediately leave the legal profession. An immense attack is being carried out on the bench and the bar; lawyers should unite rather than succumb to executive pressure.
