I refer to FT Chooi's letter entitled 'Education system does not inspire true democracy' (Sept 6). Bravo, Chooi! Your letter is a reflection of Malaysia's literacy, reasonableness and logic. Indeed, all Malaysians should rally around Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad to ensure prosperity, stability and reform.

I myself will support the premier's cause as soon as he removes the obstacles to Malaysia's prosperity, stability and reform. I thus call on Mahathir to show us his goodwill and sincerity in restoring Malaysia to her rightful place among civilised and prosperous nations. I call on the prime minister to:

1) Abolish the ISA and all other laws which provide for detention without trial;

2) Restore the right of the monarch to block any bill of parliament and not merely delay it;

3) Amend the Constitution to prevent any person from holding the post of prime minister for more than two terms (to prevent our sliding into dictatorship and, following that, further economic malaise);

4) Pass a freedom of information act to ensure that all political parties receive equal and unbiased media coverage from all the mass media;

5) Pass an act prohibiting any and all political parties from owning directly or indirectly any stock, share or any other instrument of ownership in the mass media;

6) Amend all acts where the powers of final arbitration rest with a minister and restore to the judiciary these powers of final arbitration (for instance the Customs Act);

7) Amend the EPF act to ensure that the EPF Board makes full disclosure of all profits, losses, expenses and investment decisions to the public;

8) Amend the process of appointing officers to the Election Commission to ensure that persons appointed to such position are not politically motivated (to this end, a committee to appoint such officers must be created and must comprise of equal numbers of members of the government of the day and the opposition);

9) Remove all judges where they show even the slightest hint of bias;

10) Remove all officers of the Polis DiRaja Malaysia who show even the slightest hint of bias;

11) Remove all officers of the Election Commission who show even the slightest hint of bias;

12) Investigate and remove any incompetent officer of the AG's office (they must be since they couldn't even properly formulate the charge - it was amended - for which our former deputy prime minister Anwar Ibrahim was indicted for). In addition, all officers of the AG's office who show even a hint of bias should be removed;

13) Amend of the boundaries of electoral districts to ensure a parliament that is reasonably reflective of the voting pattern in Malaysia. To this end, I also call on the prime minister to turn over at least 40 percent of the seats in parliament to the opposition since around 43 percent of the Malaysian voting population voted for the opposition;

14) Fight imperialist neo-colonisers who are continually trying to intervene in the internal governance of this country. I speak with reference to former prime minister of Singapore, Lee Kuan Yew, who was in Malaysia recently and had made disparaging remarks about the religious practices of some of our citizens;

15) Prosecute those persons of authority and power who have committed crimes (including and especially statutory rape); and

16) Prosecute those persons involved in a public disturbance and who threatened to burn down a hall owned by the second largest ethnic group in Malaysia.

Indeed, these courageous acts by the prime minister will serve as inspiration to Malaysia and her citizens and inspire all to greater service to our beloved nation.
