Barely a day after the shocking disastrous attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon in the US with thousands of innocent lives lost, RTM1 and TV3 were quick to take advantage of the tragedy for local political gains.

Even while perpetrators of the carnage have yet to be identified, these TV stations have started spinning commentaries on militancy and extremism in Malaysia and berated opposition parties, particularly PAS, on their condemnation of the attacks. These TV stations obviously tried to convince Malaysians that the recent arrests of so-called militants by the government under the Internal Security Act recently are justified, as if to prevent similar happenings in our country!

Such slants by the TV stations are totally irresponsible; it is inconceivable that they would use the miseries of the Americans for political gains here.
